Helivio
Hands writing in a notebook on a quiet desk

A UK GP, the apps families need, and the work of small steady things.

A short essay on how Helivio Health came to exist, what it believes, and what is taking shape next.

Why this exists

Helivio Health was started by a single UK GP currently practising in the NHS. Not by a startup founder with a deck. Not by a research group. By one person who kept noticing the same gap, week after week, in the consulting room.

The gap was not a clinical one. The gap was a digital one: the absence of small, careful, quiet products for the moments between visits. The feeding log a parent forgets at 3am. The incident note a SEND parent needs to write while waiting for a school meeting. The companion that does not exist in the long quiet weeks after a pregnancy loss.

The gap was not a clinical one. The gap was a digital one: the absence of small, careful, quiet products for the moments between visits.

So the work began, alone, in evenings and on holidays. App by app, slowly.

What we believe

Healthcare is mostly the small steady things. The steady tracking, the patient note, the same paperwork done well over and over. Not the dramatic moments. We build for the durable ones.

Privacy is the foundation, not the marketing. We do not sell data. We use minimal analytics, encrypted local storage, and row-level security on every table.

Evidence is a stance, not a slogan. Every clinical claim in our products is sourced. Every disclaimer is read carefully.

Design is care made visible. A good app feels like a clinician who has time for you. The typography, spacing, and small kindnesses of language are care decisions.

How we work

Quietly. The team is small. The pace is unhurried. We test what we ship: over 1,700 automated tests across the products. We monitor what we run: Sentry on every server. We respect the platforms that host us, and the people whose data we hold.

We do not chase trends. We do not raise capital we do not need. We do not promise more than the products can deliver.

Design is care made visible.

What's coming

Three apps now sit in the Helivio basket. One has shipped to TestFlight. One is in pre-launch. One is in clinical development.

There are quiet plans for another: slower than the others, more careful, in a domain where careless work would do real harm. We will write about it when there is something to show.

In the meantime, the work continues. Slowly, on purpose.
